New Obsession

I am the type of person who doesn't like any kind of drink. Sodas, juices, coffee, tea; I don't like any of them. I tried all kinds of teas, coffees, juices and sodas but none of them managed to conquer my heart. Especially since tea and coffee play a big role in the Turkish culture, many people think that I am some sort of an alien. If I really want to drink something, the only thing I would ask for would be water, even though I am not a big fan of. There has been days when throughout the day I only drank two cups of water. I know this is really bad for my health and in fact this is one of my New Years resolutions to start drinking at least 2 litres of water every day. Recently I discovered a drink which has become my new obsession. Ladies and gentleman this new obsession of mine is called Green Tea. It does not only keep me warm during the cold days of winter but it also has many benefits for my health. 

Merhabalar! Yeni yilin baslamasiyla beraber bazi yeni kararlar aldim. Blogumu ilk actigimda sadece ingilizce yazmazi dusunuyordum. Fakat son zamanlarda gordugum kadariyla Turkiye'de de buyuk bir blogger kitlesi oldugu icin artik Turkce'de yazmaya karar verdim. Turkiye'de yasamadigim ve gunluk hayatimda ev disinda Turkce konusmadigim icin ufak tefek hatalarim olacaktir. Lutfen simdiden beni affedin :) 
Eveet gelelim bugunun konusuna. Ben hicbir icecekten pek hosnut olmayan birisiyim. Gazli icecekler, meyve sulari, caylar, kahveler; hicbirinden pek hoslandigim soylenemez. Her cesitten bircok icecek denedim ama malesef kalbimi fetheden birsey bulamadim. Ozellikle cay ve kahve Turk kulturunun buyuk bir parcasi oldugu icin, iceceklerden hoslanmadigimi ogrenenler, bana sanki bir uzayliymisim gozuyle bakiyor ve inanmakta zorluk cekiyorlar. Eger canim gercekten birsey icmek isterse, genellikle su icerim. Ancak su icme konusunda da pek iyi degilim, bir gunde sadece iki bardak su icmisligim olmustur. Biliyorum bu sagligim icin gercekten cok kotu ve bu nedenle yeni yil kararlarimdan biri gunde en az 2 litre su icmek. Yakin zamanda bende bagimlilik yapan bir icecekle tanistim. Baylar ve bayanlar... bu icecek yesil cayin ta kendisi. Kisin soguk aylarinda beni isitmakla kalmiyor, ayni zamanda sagligim icinde cok yararli bu icecek. Bir tasla iki kus vurmak diye iste buna derim ben. :)



 Let me give you a little summary of what green tea is and what it does to you body. Green tea is made from un-oxidized leaves and is the least processed type of tea and therefore contains the most antioxidants. It was used in traditional Chinese and Indian to control bleeding and heal wounds, aid digestion, improve heart and mental health and regulate body temperature. In addition to that recent studies have shown that green tea can potentially have positive effects on everything from weight loss from liver disorder to diabetes type 2.* 

Size yesil cayin ne oldugunu ve ne ise yaradigini kisaca aciklayayim. Yesil cay oksitlenmemis yapraklardan yapiliyor ve butun caylar arasinda en az islenmis oldugu icin en cok antioksidani kendileri iceriyor. Zamanind,a Cin ve Hint geleneklerinde, kanamayi kontrol altina almak, yaralari iyilestirmek, sindirime yardim etmek, kalp ve zihinsel sagligi gelistirmek ve vucut isisini duzenlemek icin kullaniliyormus. Bunlarin disinda, arastirmalara gore, yesil cay kilo vermek, karaciger bozuklugu ve diyabet (tip 2) gibi bircok soruna iyi geliyor. *




Tea obsession of mine led to another obsession; mugs. At the moment I am in the hunt of new pretty mugs. Whichever store I go to, I am constantly searching for mugs. The ones you see in this post are my current favorite ones.

OATMEAL COOKIES

I've been wanting to do oatmeal cookies for such a long time but never had a chance to try it out. Even though I am not a big fan of desserts I like baking more than I like cooking. It is always more fun to try out dessert recipes, which eventually end up being not eaten. Since oatmeals are quite healthy I wanted to make the cookies healthy as well so I decided not to use any butter. I did a bit of research and used my mums help to come up with the ingredients. This recipe is not only healthy, easy and quick to make but also a good use of your spotty bananas, which will save them from being thrown away.


The main ingredients you will need are bananas, oatmeal and I also used dark chocolate to add some flavor to it (not so healthy oops). You can also use healthier options such as raisins, dried fruit or nuts instead of the chocolate. I didn't use proper measurements but just estimated the amount I would need. Make sure to start off by the least amount since you can always add if you need more.

First you will need to mash the bananas. Since we are not using any butter, banana will the job of keeping the oats together. An ordinary fork will do the job and it takes about a minute to mash it. You can to get it to a state where the banana is like a cream. 

Once all the bananas are mashed you can add the oats and chocolate and start mixing them all up. You can use a fork to do this. As I mentioned before since I estimated the amount of chocolate and oats, I kept adding more oats until I got it to the state, which it wasn't too liquid. In addition to the main ingredients I also added a pinch of salt and 1/4 tea spoon of vegetable oil. Once all the ingredients are mixed turn your oven to 180°C so that it heats up before you put the cookies in. 
                   
Make sure you put baking paper or use another material which will keep the cookies from sticking to the tray. With the help of a spoon form your mix of ingredients in a cookie shape. You don't need to worry about leaving too much space between each cookie because they will not spread. Once all your cookies are on the tray put it in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. Enjoy your delicious cookies!

AS THE WINTER IS APPROACHING

I guess it is very true that we don't understand how valuable some things are until we lose them. As I was going trough my old photos, which is something that I love doing in order to refresh my memory and bring back the good old times, I found these photos my friend took of me at the beginning of June, when the summer had just started. The beautiful sun is shining and I am wearing one of my favorite dresses and sandals. On the other hand when I look outside of my window right now, there is dark sky and no hint of sun. I am wearing my pajamas and have no desire of getting out of my bed. Oh how I wish that I could go back to the summer time and enjoy the beautiful weather. Even though I love fall and the beautiful colours the nature creates, it can't beat my love for summer. Enjoy the photos.
